The development and production facility of IG Pulvertechnik in the Stelz Industrial Park was to be doubled in size. Staying within strict, mandated budgetary and time constraints, a project was developed that creates optimal working conditions in a modern, attractive building.

Since the operating cycles in the existing production and development facility proved to be highly efficacious, it was possible in pragmatic and simple fashion to duplicate them mirror-image style for twice the capacity. The frontage was given a completely new face which in beautiful fashion radiates the perfection of a precision-made product. The projecting personnel area with its full-sized glass front creates the effect of a connecting element between new and old.

Of course, for IGP the subject of color is of major significance, To make that evident without slipping too much into the obvious, the outer shell of the building was left metal-grey, while the colors inside the factory are theme-based. Through the long projecting glass wall of the personnel area three different color surfaces shine toward the outside, establishing an understated thematic relationship.

One special request was to offer the employees an area of a particularly attractive infrastructure as yet uncommon in the industry. For once, and pleasantly different, the cloakrooms and recreation rooms were not placed in the basement, but rather conspicuously on the second floor. The colored surfaces connect with the outside world through the glass panes, while on the inside they lend a special atmosphere to the individual areas.
